Classic non-denial denial
Response to criticisms doesn't actually say they were wrong.
From Bush’s latest interview:
“Senator Kennedy, who I respect, and with whom I have worked, should not have said we were trying to bribe foreign nations. . . . I don’t think we’re serving our nation well by allowing the discourse to become so uncivil that people, say, use words that they shouldn’t be using.”
It’s hardly uncivil, or unpatriotic, to accuse the President of secretly bribing foreign nations if that turns out to be true. Now, the jury’s still out on that one - but Bush rather pointedly didn’t actually say that Edward Kennedy was wrong.
