Ejaculating regularly halves their life span, apparently.
According to this article about dogs in the porn industry, it can be severely detrimental to a dog’s health to ejaculate when it’s not in heat. On the other hand, given that dogs hate wearing condoms, it’s not certain that the dog is the only victim here. (Need I mention civet cats?)
The article was originally about protests that dogs were earning more money than their co-performers. I’m sorry but: HEY! You’re earning regular money for letting people film you being fucked by a god-damn dog. And then you complain that the dog’s getting twice what you’re getting?
