How prejudice works
"On July 4th of 1999, a day that should have been wonderful for many reasons, my boyfriend was murdered in his sleep by two fellow soldiers at Fort Campbell Army base in Kentucky. […] Barry told me he didn’t care that I was a transgendered woman. He liked me for me."
From the Dean blog comes this heartrending story of love and intolerance. Especially poignant is the sporadic appearance of trolls and hate-mongerers, and the reaction from the Dean regulars (mostly: donate money to Dean in response to every challenge, like a modern Internet- and credit-card-savvy version of yesteryear’s swear jar).
I’m not going to be a smart-arse. Just follow all of the damn links, like the Internet tells you to. You’ll feel better, eventually.
