Bush signs up for all of Sharon's demands

George W. Bush, the accidental president, has now locked the United States into permanent, full-fledged support for the creation of an apartheid Israel — complete with bantustans.

And the worst is, because of the nature of US-Israel politics, and the powerful Jewish lobby in the US, no future American President will be allowed to back away from this position.

Read the whole thing for the full, desperate, picture. I, for one, hope the peace talks continue to stall and the Palestinians eventually outbreed the Israelis. That’ll teach ‘em.

(UPDATE): For crying out loud, when will Tony Blair stop being a goddamn craven lackey to Bush and start talking some modicum of sense in foreign affairs? From the Guardian:

“The Palestinian Authority must show the political will to make the withdrawal from Gaza a success and to deliver on their road map responsibilities, especially regarding security.”

The US and Israel magnanimously give Gaza back to the Palestinians, in exchange for enough of the West Bank to make any Palestinian State a complete and utter mockery, and Tony’s response is to warn the Palestinians that they’d better be happy that they’ve got even this much?

If I was a Labour party member (as opposed to a Labour Party voter), I’d have resigned right now. As it is, I’ve as of now joined the Liberals. Tony has made me annoyed enough that I’m entertaining the fantasy that someone can beat Labour in Glasgow. Labour Party people, you should be fucking worried.
