Everybody can be in the iTunes music store
With a little help from indie label CD Baby
According to this announcement from CD Baby, for $40 up front and a 9% cut, CD Baby will distribute your CD to the iTunes music store and other places. A logical progression from Apple’s promise to let indie labels in on the iTunes music store, this now means that anybody can get online and have their wares available to the 2-5% of Americans who have Macs.
OK, so it’s not ideal. But it’s better than the existing situation.
Indie bands: why not spend that $40? That’s the interesting question to me.
