French baffles Microsoft
It's 30% longer, which isn't supposed to happen.
I use Microsoft Entourage for email. I’d use Eudora except that I have some sort of deep-seated resentment towards it, and I’d use Mail if it threaded properly (I read a lot of mailing lists, professionally, and that’s vital).
I’m currently writing a long email to a French friend of mine, and I realise that the window size I normally use just isn’t suited to the language. There are fewer words , but they take up more space, and the spacing isn’t right. It looks like the window should be wider, to fit more stuff in.
At this point I remember that French is, as a general rule, 30% longer than English. People who design dialogue boxes learn to curse this fact.
Yes, I stopped writing the email for a brief moment to blog this observation. I am that much in a 21st century vibe at the moment.
