Livejournal folks can now subscribe to RSS feeds

Add skington_mt to your friends list if you want to subscribe to this blog.

If you’ve got a livejournal, you can now subscribe to RSS feeds, which will appear in your friends list. (Thanks to Gareth for pointing this out.) Because Livejournal is a centrally-run service, it makes sense for them to maintain one big list of RSS feeds, so if many people want to read the same RSS feed livejournal only has to fetch it once. So you don’t need to manually add this blog (and indeed you shouldn’t, as that will just cause inefficiency) - just add skington_mt to your friends list.

Please comment on the main blog site itself, not LiveJournal, because I have no way of knowing whether you’ve commented on a syndicated version of this blog.

Warning: livejournal appear to date entries fetched from RSS feeds according to when they were fetched, which means that currently all of the entries from this blog are, according to LiveJournal, from 7:28am today. Hopefully this will sort itself out now that LiveJournal are subscribed to the feed, and the times should only be out by a few minutes (depending on how often Livejournal visit the site) half an hour, tops.

Edit: Because LiveJournal treat RSS feeds as special types of user (a bit of a kludge, but there you go), you can actually view this blog as a
LiveJournal page, and look up user info, which is where I found out how often LiveJournal will revisit the feed. No idea yet if that figure of half an hour will change depending on how many people read the blog.
